He said changed political circumstances have directly influenced the lives of Serbs in Kosovo, to the extent that some have dual Serbian and Kosovo citizenship like he did.
“We have always been Serbs and there is no doubt who our mother is, but if we are already adopted, then we should love our stepmother and our mother”, Rassic told the BBC in Serbian.
He was minister in the Government of Kosovo on February 17th 2008, when Kosovo declared independence and in Government is still in Prime Minister Albin Kurti's cabinet today.
Nenad Rashi's first memory from the day independence was declared was their departure from institutions.
Over those two months, we have repeatedly insisted that an agreement be reached, but it has occurred that Kosovo's declaration with the determination of Albanians and international representatives be made as soon as possible. In response, we boycotted the work of institutions, which was the reflection of our discontent because no compromise was reached”, Rassic says.
The BBC has asked whether Kosovo could have a Serb prime minister in the next 15 years, Nenad Rassic initially laughed and then stopped.
And to be honest, it's not that I never thought it could happen. Perhaps the prime minister is not possible, because he is the first man of executive power, but if Kosovo Serbs create a political subject that means they are moderate to survive, I really believe they may have one of the three highest presidential positions or parliament speaker”.
