Prosecutorial Council: The government violated the two-legged Constitution

Those with the law have reduced their salaries by up to 40 percent.

From the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, they have told “Expose” that the Government, with the new line of wages, has violated the country's Constitution on two feet, and that is why they are called into an act of the previous Constitutional Court.

By the Prosecutorial Council, they are convinced that with the new salary law, the Government has directly intervened in the prosecutor's work, due to the reduction of salaries.

They are convinced that whenever the law goes into the constitution it will fall.

It is true that even the KKP has asked the ombudsman to refer it to the Constitution because by this law prosecutors have a beautiful reduction in wages and in the demand we have made and argued our request. It is defined with a previous decision by the Constitutional Court when it can lower the salaries of prosecutors and there are two cases -- in case there is a general economic crisis assessed by competent bodies and if there are disciplinary measures with wage reductions for prosecutors, in other cases there is no right to lower salaries for prosecutors. The new law now on wages conflicts with the Constitutional Court's decision”, Astrit Kolaj said by the KKP, Blic newspaper.
