The prosecution calls for a prison sentence for former MKRS official Leotrim Gashi

He said that since the start of the preliminary procedure at the Constitutional Court, he has admitted guilt and has never left that responsibility.

Initially, the accused Gashi had been sentenced to 6 months in prison and 3 thousand euros in fines, but with the consent of being sentenced to prison sentences has been replaced by fines of up to 7 thousand euros, thus being pronounced a unique fine of 10,000 euros.

Also, according to the first degree indictment, accused Gashi will also be counted as the time spent in custody from January 11th to April 12th 2022.

The same has also been pronounced a complete sentence - a ban on the exercise of office in public administration or on the public ministry for two years.

Meanwhile, according to the precise indictment, Gashi was accused of continuing from December 12th 2021 to January 11th 2022, asking for money from the G.T, with the argument that he is able to exert influence on the decision-making of official-commission officers to grant grants to MKRS.

At the session, held on September 29, 2022, prosecutor Zeqa had made the specification of the indictment, with what accused Gashi was charged with criminal work “impact”, by Article24, pars 1 of KPRK.

By contrast, Pristina Constitutional Court Gashi had sentenced this act to 2 years in prison and 3 thousand euros in fines for criminal acts “Bribery”, but on July 29, 2022, the Court of Appeals has annulled the sentence and the case is turned into a retrial due to essential violations of criminal procedure provisions.

According to the indictment compiled on March 28th 2022 by Pristina Constitutional Prosecutor Leotrim Gashi is said to have committed criminal work “Bribe taking”, out of 421, par.1 of KPRKS.

The indictment said that the accused Gashi in the quality of the executive assistant at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, respectively, has sought bribery from the damaged G.T. witness.
