Plenkovic: Franco-German proposal will almost lead to recognition “de facto”

He has said an effort is being made by France and Germany, but also by other QUINT states to reduce tensions and move towards what would almost be a “> facto Kosovo recognition from Serbia.
He has said this is the form to move forward and remove from the table topics which consistently create tensions in northern Kosovo.
“Tomorrow will be the 15th anniversary when Croatia recognised Kosovo, it is a long time. You know five places have not yet known. What we've seen from the efforts of France and Germany and some other states that are part of the QUINT is an attempt to move things forward to reduce tensions and make an effort to move towards what is almost a APU facto” recognition that will be formally on the table sooner or later. This is the way to move forward to remove from the table issues that spur some tensions in northern Kosovo”, Plenkovic has said, Express reports.
He has said that more stability is needed in the Western Balkan region and that tensions would be the last thing the West would like.
“I believe that we as the EU need stability in the region. We have enough instability from Russian aggression in Ukraine. We must be vigilant and cautious about stability in the Balkans. Because it is the last thing the West would like, another conflict in the region”, the Croatian prime minister has added further.
He has noted that from the contacts behind Pristina and Belgrade, he has the impression that he already has a more positive approach to the Franco-German proposal than when he first presented himself.
My impression is there are more positive signals to the Franco-German proposal than when it was first published. This is my impression of contact with Belgrade and Pristina”, the head of the Croatian Government has said.
