Montenegro's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic said there is no information that individuals from Montenegro are planning to destabilise Moldova for Russia's needs. Abazovic gave this answer REL 14 February.
Moldova's president, Maja Sandu, said on February 13th that Russia plans to use foreign sabotagers to bring down its country's leadership, stop membership in the European Union and use it in the fight against Ukraine. According to her, this plan includes citizens of Russia, Montenegro, Belarus and Serbia entering Moldova.
We'll try to contact their office for additional clarification. If necessary, our security services will conduct additional checks. If they have any more information, we are willing to listen to it”, Abazovic said.
He also said such statements should not be linked to government and state policies, but if such persons exist, it is about irresponsible individuals.
The “seemed a little rough, because it gives me the impression that Montenegro is taking part in the problems existing in Moldova. Montenegro has many problems of its own, but we are here if we can help”, Abazovic said.
Abazovic recalled that Montenegro is completely in line with the European Union's policy of joining sanctions against Russia, as well as helping Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees.
“We contribute from which no European country” would be ashamed, he said.
Compared to the number of residents, Montenegro received a high percentage of Ukrainian refugees, as well as provided financial and military assistance to Ukraine.
