The Democratic Party of Kosovo calls it lost opportunity for the Republic of Kosovo to accept the European proposal on the part of Prime Minister Kurti, who is insufficient for achieving our country's state goals. Yesterday, through the admission of the European proposal, unfortunately, what the PDK had warned several times over the past weeks and months happened.
Prime Minister Kurti gave up his attitudes and conditions before personal interests and ambitions to stay in power. Meanwhile, as a result, Kosovo lost bilateral recognition with Serbia, while winning the Serb majority municipalities' association.
Moreover, the official proposal does not speak of recognition by the five non-recognising EU nations, nor of opening the road towards NATO membership, nor of obtaining EU membership candidate status. On the contrary, it speaks of expanded competencies for the Serb community, which risks moving towards substatic autonomy, and also speaks of special status for the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo, which risks leading to extraterritoriality.
For two years, the Democratic Party of Kosovo has supported Prime Minister Kurti's report with Serbia. The PDK has encouraged it to co-ordinate with our international allies and has also offered concrete proposals regarding the final agreement with mutual recognition in the centre.
Unfortunately, Prime Minister Kurti ignored any assistance and advice that has been given him and his head separately and contrary to the long-term interests of the Republic of Kosovo, through wrong actions and policies, irreverently degraded the dialogue process.
Consequently, it enabled the replacement of the final agreement with mutual recognition in the centre with an interim agreement with Association in the centre. Exactly, as Serbia has aimed at this process of dialogue.
