The US Geological Service says a 5.5-degree magnitude shift has felt about 10 kilometers near the town of Golbas, reports the BBC.
However, the French seismological Centre Evpiano-Mediterranean said the quake near Golbas had a 5.6 degree scale and was in the depth of two miles.
Both agencies have announced that the quake occurred at 3:13 a.m.
