President Vjosa Osmani spoke a little earlier at the Munich Security Conference, where the theme of a panel was “Grath, peace and security”.
Osmani cited the role of Kosovo women in the 1990s during the war as well as in post-war statehood.
Kosovo's “Gras have had a leading role, an extremely important role along our peaceful resistance during the 1990s, when Kosovo's people were victims of an apartheid regime, where all basic rights were violated by the Milosevic regime. It was the women who led the protests, they got involved in international diplomacy, to make sure that they knocked on every door to ensure that our voice feels internationally. Very few people then knew where Kosovo existed. Second, Kosovo women were involved even during the war, in the struggle for freedom, many of them fell like heroin, and now we see Ukrainian women defending their country. And third, Kosovo women became very involved in the peace-building and state processes”, Osmani said.
“I strongly believe that even the internationals who are involved in the process of making Kosovo a state know that Kosovo is one of the best success stories, is an example of the democratic state”, the president added.
