The United States will offer Ukraine additional $2 billion security aid, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Thursday. We will continue to see what is necessary, and we will make sure that we offer what Ukraine needs to have [...]
“We will continue to see what is necessary, and we will be sure to offer what Ukraine needs to succeed on the battlefield”, Sullivan said.
He said G7 countries -- consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States -- will announce a new round of sanctions Friday that will include countries trying to provide assistance to Russia.
You will see over time the continuing variable of Russian economic quality and capacity, despite the fact that Putin is rushing to spend money in an effort to revive it”, Sullivan said.
Asked about Ukraine's request for F-16 fighter aircraft, Sullivan said from Washington's perspective, “F-16 are not a matter for short-term combat; F-16 has to do with Ukraine's long-term defence”.
On February 20th, during an unprecedented visit to Ukraine, US President Joe Biden said the US is preparing a new shipment of “critical equipment” to Ukraine, which, he said, would include artillery and radar air surveillance ammunition.
Beden also warned new sanctions against the Russian state.
The United States is one of the largest relief providers for the Ukrainian Army.
Since the beginning of the Russian occupation on February 24th of last year, Washington has sent protection and logistics equipment worth tens of billions of dollars.
