The latest public assessment by the Biden government dates back to November, when Joint Staff chief Mark Milley spoke of more than 100,000 soldiers dead and injured on both sides.
The clashes at Soledar and Bakhmut caused the number to rise, with the sending of less prepared troops to the front line.
Currently, some cities notice an increase in the number of Russian bombings, including civilian settlements where there have been victims.
