In downtown Belgrade, despite appeals by nongovernmental organisations to police to prevent it, members of the neo-Nazi organisation “Zenthropa Srbija” have been gathered.
They gathered at the death site of Milan Nedic, leader of the corporate government in occupied Serbia in World War II, on the edge of the “road. Simina” and “Kneginje Ljubica”, reports N1.
There were about 50 of them, displaying placards and singing songs dedicated to Nedic and lighting torches. The gathering has lasted about 45 minutes and police have been present all the time, dividing the rally from the anti-fascists, including nongovernmental organisations and the “movement, don't kill Belgrade”.
Sofiy Todorovic of the “Youth Initiative for Human Rights” said that “we witnessed that the law that prohibits events promoting fascism is actually not worth”.
The police were actually here tonight to preserve a gathering of people who support fascism and celebrate Nazi collaborator Milan Nediq”, Sofija Todorovic said.
It shows that such events must be banned under law.
“We rejected this because we believe the anti-fascist tradition of Serbia and Belgrade should not allow such things to happen”, Todorovic said.
“Zenthropia” is an international neo-Nazi organisation that has activities in Serbia's cities and they allegedly attacked the “Crni van” in Novi Sad, where supporters of antifascism gather. /Klankosova. tv
