He said his country is willing to give support to the process of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia for regional peace, if this is required.
“Turkey is ready to provide all kinds of support for the peace and stability of our region and make the necessary contribution if required by the parties”, Erdogan said at a joint media conference with Prime Minister Kurti.
“We hope that the dialogue process with Serbia will result in a way that ensures lasting peace and stability in the region”.
He said Turkey has continued joint efforts to ensure that Kosovo achieves the position it deserves in the international arena.
“in this direction, we support Kosovo's vision of membership in NATO, the Council of Europe and the EU”.
In addition to politics, Kurti and Erdogan also talked about the scope of economy, trade, energy, defence industry and the fight against terrorism.
Erdogan said that with the free trade agreement entering into force in 2019, the two countries achieved a positive moment in the volume of bilateral trade.
“As the country with the highest exports to Kosovo, we must increase this figure to 1 billion euros”, Erdogan said.
Meanwhile, Kurti was most demanding from Turkey in his report.
Turkey is one of our important economic and trade partners. Of course, we rejoice, but that should not be sufficient. We can use our current co-operation to achieve higher potential”.
Erdogan also mentioned the Egyptian theme, urging Kurt to step up his efforts in this regard. Kurt did not make any statements about this subject before the Turkish president. But when the deportation of Turkish citizens from Kosovo had taken place in 2018, Kurti had been loud in demanding responsibilities and becoming the commissioners.
I asked my dear friend to make additional efforts to increase our solidarity against the activities of the Terrorist Organisation FETO in Kosovo”.
Kurti has thanked Erdogan for Turkey's contribution and its role in NATO's intervention in Kosovo in 1999.
This intervention prevented genocide against the people of Kosovo and was important for establishing the country and preserving peace”, he said.
