NATO promises $624m to protect Ukraine, UN seeks 5.6 billion for refugees

The UN effort includes $3.9 billion for Ukraine's humanitarian response plan and $1.7 billion for the refugee response plan, the UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the UN Agency for Refugees said in a joint statement Wednesday.
The financing will provide health care, food and other assistance to 11.1 million people through more than 650 partners in the humanitarian response plan. The refugee response plan supports refugees and communities in 10 host refugee countries: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
A new international aid package was announced during a meeting of NATO defence ministers in Brussels on Wednesday.
The package includes tank reserves, air systems without crews, electronic warfare and air protection from the International Fund for Ukraine, agreed on by the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Iceland and Lithuania have also contributed to the fund.
