Moldova denies Russia's accusations of attack in Transnistria

Moldova's pro-European leaders have denied Russia's statements that it is planning to attack the country's breakaway pro-rus territory and called for calm. The Russian Defence Ministry claimed, without any evidence, that Ukrainian sabotagers would organise an invasion of Transnistria dressed as Russian soldiers as a pretext for a Ukrainian invasion.

But Moldova has been warning for weeks that Russia is planning to take power.

And officials dismissed Russia's claims as “psy-ops” as part of the war.

The ministry of defence believes it is an element of psychological surgery, and not a real plan,” said Secretary of State Valeriu Miya.

Meanwhile, Moldovan President Maya Sandu, on a visit to Romania, spoke of unprecedented security challenges ahead, the BBC writes, conveys Clankosova.tv.

Some wanted our country to fall and install in Chisinau a doll government, enslaved to the Kremlin's interests,” she said.

Moldova is not part of NATO, but last June was granted EU candidate status on the same day as Ukraine. Earlier this week, the Moldovan leader met with US President Joe Biden, who promised to uphold her country's sovereignty.
