MP from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Pal Lekaj has said the minimum wage should at least be allocated to 400 euros.
When we are at minimum wage, again, the Government is negligent and has not begun to prosecute it in the Assembly, which is necessary minimum wage, and we have said the minimum wage should at least be determined 400 euros”, Lekaj said.
Among other things, Lekaj said that in the minimum wage in no way should veterans be overlooked.
In no way should this category (veterans) that has given everything of itself and built the state of Kosovo, have to be sidelined”, Lekaj has declared for Kosovapress.
We remember that the Kosovo Assembly on 14 June last year has voted in principle the bill, which paves the way for the minimum wage increase.
The adopted bill envisions the growth of the minimum wage to 264 euros gross, or 250 euros, net, from 130-170 as it currently is.
After adopting the bill in principle, Finance, Labour and Transfers Minister Iron Murati had said the bill would help more than 100,000 workers, who are paid less than 264 euros.
The bill, however, does not envision the connection of minimum wage to veterans' pension, as it has been in the past. If approved on second reading as it is, veterans will continue to receive pensions worth 170 euros.
