French President Emmanuel Macron said he wants Russia's defeat of Ukraine, but not its collapse.
At the same time, he warned them that “above all wants to press Russia” that this will never be his country's position.
“I want Russia's loss in Ukraine and I want Ukraine to be able to protect, but I am convinced that, in the end, this will not be done by military means”, Macron said in an interview he gave to French media.
I don't believe, as some do, that we have to completely destroy Russia, attack it on its soil. These observers want to print Russia above all. This was not and would never be France's position,” he added.
“Monitors” appear to be, to the French president, those who, mainly in Eastern Europe, sharply criticised, in May 2022, his statement that Russia should be “down”.
In the same interview, which he gave Friday evening on the plane that took him to Munich, Macro reiterated that he prefers a negotiated solution.
What is needed today is for Ukraine to launch a military offensive that will split the Russian front to realise a return to negotiations,” he told three French media.
Macron also argued that none of the two sides can prevail either Ukraine or Russia, because the results of the mobilization are as important as they predicted, and they (Russia) have limited option”.
Emmanuel Macron also said that “all options except Vladimir Putin in the current body” looked at “worse “than the Russian president, alluding to the head of Russia's Security Council, Nikolai Pattrusev and Wagner mercenary founder Yevgeny Pigozin.
“Do we really believe that a democratic solution will emerge from Russian civil society after years of cruelty and in the midst of war? I really hope so, but I don't believe”, he's done. / KP/
