Our expectations are quite high”, Miroslav Lajcak says of Monday's meeting between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, whom the Special Minister of the European Union will mediate.
Lajcak says this is the first meeting the European proposal will be discussed.
“As long as this is the sixth consecutive meeting between Prime Minister Kurti and President Vuciq, it will be the first to be dedicated to the European proposal for normalisation of reports between Kosovo and Serbia”, Lajcak has said further.
We expect that, firstly, both leaders officially and publicly accept the proposal and then we can engage in its implementation, to ensure that everything is expected is also applicable. This is what we expect from Monday's” meeting.
Lajcak says Kurti and Vuciqi are detailedly informed of what the European proposal contains and that at the Munich Conference, which was held last week, they were clearly told what the West expects of them.
I've had some meetings with both leaders, separately. They're familiar with the proposal, of course, for every detail. Last week, during the Munich Security Conference, they met with High Representative Josep Borrell, German Chancellor Scholz and French President Makron”, Lajcak said in an interview for “The Pavlovic Today”.
“They have heard very clearly what is expected, what the European Union expects of them, and, likewise, the United States of America, because the US strongly supports this proposal”, says the special email.
Lajcak, questioned whether the Association of Serb majority municipalities will be on Monday's meeting agenda, has said:
“What will be on the agenda is the proposal. And, the proposal contains the appropriate level of self-awareness for the Serb community in Kosovo. And, other things”, he said.
