KDI estimates that the lack of electronic voting is undermining transparent functioning and the account of the assembly.
The “has been done more than a year since the voting process at Kosovo's Parliament sessions has been restored to the hand-to-hand voting practice, as a result of failing tender procedures to refunction electronic voting”.
“KDI estimates that the lack of electronic voting is violating transparent functioning but also the country's accountability. Thus, the will of citizens' representatives, expressed through individual voting, remains unknown to citizens, since the Assembly is not publishing the information about how each MP has voted in terms of the agenda, as provided with the Parliament's Work Rule. According to Article 61, Article 9 of the Order, “The operation of hand voting is made public within two (2) working days after the voting ends at the plenary session. ” is said in their media statement.
This institute has demanded that, in an early term, restore electronic voting.
The “in order to increase the transparency and accountability of the Parliament and the individual deputies, KDI is seeking from the Assembly, which in the nearest possible term restores the electronic vote. In the meantime, the Assembly, in addition to publishing the quantum votes, should make public the results of the hand vote for each individual MP in the Assembly hearings.
