Japan has approved the new 4.6 billion-dollar package to help Ukraine in its battle against Russia. Fumio Kishida said Ukraine is still suffering under Russian occupation, and its people need help to rebuild their daily lives.

He added that Russia's attack is a challenge for all international order based on rules that end the post-Cold War era. As president of this year's G7, Kishida said she will organise an online summit where Volodymyr Zelensky will join on Friday.

This will be the first time Mr. Kishida will hold a summit of G7.

Japan has joined the United States and European countries in sanctioning Russia for its conquest and providing humanitarian and economic support to Ukraine.

Japan has already loaned more than 70 billion yen (432 million pounds) to Ukraine for emergency economic aid and has accommodated more than 2,000 Ukrainians.
