He has even been one of the few leaders who have met Putin, just weeks after the start of the war in Ukraine.
Although Bennett's efforts at mediating between the two countries seem to have had little result in stopping fighting, some statements made in an interview Sunday have highlighted diplomacy and urgent measures taken to reduce the level of conflict in the first days.
In an interview that lasted for five hours, Bennett has touched many topics, and then he said he asked Putin if he intends to kill Zelensky.
I asked him how's the job with him? Are you planning Zelensky's murder? ) He told me he wouldn't kill Zelensky. Then I told him to promise not to kill Zelensky. He said he wouldn't kill Zelensky.
Bennett later said he called Zelensky to inform him about Putin's promise.
Listen to me, I got out of the meeting, he won't kill you. He asked me, are you sure? ) I told him he wouldn't kill”.
Bennett has said his long mediation, Putin has given up on the request for Ukrainian disarming, and Zelensky has given up his country's NATO membership.
Bennett, a largely untested leader since he has remained in power for six months, has plunged himself into international diplomacy shortly after the start of the war, due to Israel's connections with Russia and Ukraine.
Israel has good ties to the Kremlin and considers them strategic when there are threats from Iran, but it also sides with Western nations and tries to show support to Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin calls the war launched on February 24th of last year as “special military operation”.
The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions.
As a result of the war, thousands have died, and millions of others have been displaced from their homes. / REL/
