She said the European proposal, which is based on a German-French initiative, is a unique opportunity for both Serbia and Kosovo.
The application of the proposal would radically and steadily improve relations between countries. It could spur the normalisation process in the interest of their citizens. It would remove obstacles on the road towards further EU integration and economic development. And it would certainly be a political and economic incentive for the entire Western Balkan region, which is being restrained by this unresolved issue. All EU members hope that Serbia and Kosovo will seize this historic and unique chance. Europe is embracing the region as never before -- our wings are open, but we need both sides to act constructively”, she told Euroactiv.
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq will have a political summit in Brussels on 27 February.
Both have said they accept the European proposal, but Prime Minister Kurti has conditioned the provision of association.
