Economic experts say that since the declaration of Independence, Kosovo has largely had positive trends in terms of economic growth. They said the economy has largely damaged the lack of political stability.
The former head of the Kosovo Economic Ode, Safet Gerjaliu, has said of EO must understand that the most difficult period of a state or society is transition and Kosovo has paid a very expensive price for this transition process.
The weakest “Picta has been, definitely, what we've consistently lacked political stability”, he said.
Gerjaliu points out that it cannot be lived only through remittances, so it requires private sector empowerment.
Kosovo is part of the European and global process. The crisis has taken its toll, be it Pandemia Covid19, or the economic crisis behind the Coddy pandemic. The fact that we are also experiencing the effects of the crisis between Russia and Ukraine is indicators that have really made the economic process and economic development difficult in Kosovo. It is not only from remittances and from the aspect of strengthening the private sector needs a partnership and a real dialogue”.
In an assessment of Kurt's two-year rule, Gerjaliu sees no room for self - praise.
And despite what we're talking about is that we have economic growth, that we have budget growth, growth in customs revenues, in ATK, I believe there's no place for euphoria and pomp to achieve, because the challenges are many. I believe what should be priority of priorities is a real dialogue and public-private partnership”.
While the other expert on economic issues, Jakup Bellaqa, said Kosovo has largely faced positive but negative trends in terms of economic growth in these 15 years from independence. The biggest damage, according to him, is done with privatisations. As it achieved, it singles out highways for Albania and Northern Macedonia.
Kosovo's “Eonomia over the past 15 years has had its history, including and deadlock. In some periods there have been positive trends, in some periods negative” trends.
It is known that because of the war, Kosovo's economy has been destroyed; some 600 companies have been destroyed. The UNMIK administration has been several years, then privatisation has been made. There have been some weaknesses that have been done in privatisation, however about 90 percent of Kosovo's economy is privatised. After independence there have been several major projects such as the Nation's Road, the road with northern Macedonia, etc.”, he said.
Some positive steps have been taken, but not enough has been made. To be functional Kosovo must be economically strengthened. Because economic sovereignty strengthens judicial sovereignty”, Bellaqa says. / EO/
