Turkish Health Minister Fahretttin Koca has announced tonight that at least 5434 people have been killed and 31777 injured in earthquakes. The latest Turkish authorities report brings the total number of victims in Turkey and Syria to 7266.
In unfavourable conditions, the post-circular and cold rescue teams are competing with time to find survivors in the ruins of collapsed buildings in southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria. It is estimated that hundreds of people are trapped in ruins, and anxiety about their fate is growing over the hours.
This situation has caused overload in hospitals. In Syria, hospitals are reported to be absolutely overloaded, and only those who need medical treatment are added.
