A Pakistani living in the US has donated $30m to the families of those who lost their lives and were injured in two earthquakes in southern Turkey and Syria.
That was made known to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif by means of a Twitter post.
The “is deeply affected by the example of an anonymous Pakistani entering the Turkish Embassy in the US and donated $30m to earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria”, he wrote.
“These are such glorious philanthropic acts that enable humanity to triumph over seemingly insurmountable prospects,” he added.
On Thursday, Sharif formed a special cabinet committee to oversee the collection of funds and aid to victims of Monday's earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, which left more than 28,000 people dead.
He announced the committee's formation at a meeting in Islamabad to review and discuss ways to speed up the ongoing campaign to come to the aid of earthquake affected.
