The decision was made during meetings this party has held on February 24th. Djukanovic received unanimous support from his party to enter the race for a new five-year term at the head of the state.
The presidential elections in Montenegro are scheduled for 19 March, and candidates must submit applications to participate in the elections by February 26th to the State Election Commission.
DPS has been in opposition since August 2020.
Djukanovic is a politician whose power in Montenegro has been inconsistent since the establishment of the multiparty system more than 30 years ago.
So far, the candidates confirmed for the presidential election are the leader of the pro-rus Democratic Front, Andrija Majur, and Social Democrat Party deputy leader Draginje Vuksanovic Stankovovic.
Also, it has been warned that Alexa Beciq, Jamov Milatovic and Goran Danilovovic will compete in the presidential elections.
