Djukanovic: Kosovo, Serbia have no choice but to sign agreement

There is no other way for either Kosovo or Serbia except reaching an agreement, Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic has said, talking about the European proposal for normalisation of relations. Maintaining the frozen conflict, Djukanovic said it is in the function of a destructive doctrine towards Europe and Western Balllkan.
These comments were made by the Malaysian president in an interview for the German public broadcaster, Deutsche Welle.
My stance has long been known: there is no other way than agreement. Any other idea, such as the idea of maintaining the frozen conflict, is in fact in the function of a structural doctrine towards Europe and the Western Balkans as the European region. So this is certainly not a road that will bring good things neither to Serbia nor to Kosovo, nor to the Western Balkans, nor to Europe”.
I think that with the acceptance of the basic text agreement on both sides, a movement has been made. This is a chance not to leave. I know the following days in Brussels will continue talks on the ongoing document, the implementation plan. I hope that an agreement will be reached for this too. I sincerely want Serbia and Kosovo to sign the agreement, because I think this would be of enormous importance to the stability and European perspective of the region”, Milo Djukanovic has said.
Asked whether the conflict in Ukraine could penetrate Moldova or Kosovo, Djukanovic does not exclude it.
This conflict actually has this potential. From day one, I say this is a conflict where Ukraine is on the line of fire. I know there is an idea, that through the “Russian World” becomes a historical revision and efforts are made to give Russia the geopolitical importance that the Soviet Union once had.
But what interests us most as Europeans is, this is obviously aggression against European unity and the European system of values. I'm glad that's how it is read in all important European political addresses. I am glad that Europe has reacted as it has and that it really understands that the European system of values is being protected in Ukraine. I think as long as the war lasts, the risk of such reflections, as you highlighted in your question, there is”. /insef
