On December 8, 2022 Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has indicated that evidence has disappeared in the case of Astrit Dehari's death.
The Ministry of Justice later announced that it has suspended four IML officials from working on the case.
According to the announcement, the disciplinary commission of the Institute for Legal Medicine had made a decision on suspension by officials:
Nardi Sugargiu, forensic toxicist at the Institute for Legal Medicine,
Goga butterflies, leader of the toxicology lab at the Institute for Legal Medicine,
Anila Lakna, technical of the toxicology lab at the Institute for Legal Medicine, and
Ilirjana Shala, chemist at the Institute for Legal Medicine.
Ditor Haliti, deputy director of the Law Medicine Institute, who said the four suspended workers under the decision of the disciplinary commission on December 8th of 2022, have returned to work.
In the question about the Vetvendosje Movement MP's allegations, Hakki Abazi that there are videos-incidents where he sees who has eliminated the samples of activist Astrit Dehari, Haliti said they had no access to those videos because they were taken by Kosovo police at the orders of the Special Prosecutor.
Haliti said in RTK that the police are examining them, until he said there is no information about whether there is any record of who has taken these samples.
“We have cameras that observe IML spaces, including those in the lab, they are recorded on our servers that were taken from the police, and we haven't seen them, only the police currently have access to those videos and only they can say if there is anything concrete about it or not, Haliti said.
