American media, “The New York Post” reports that Lee died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his Mahnhattan office.
New York police told BBC television that an unidentified 78-year-old man was found dead Thursday morning at 767 Fifth Avenue.
According to “magazine Forbes”, Lee had $2 billion worth of money at the time of his death.
Police have not confirmed that the man has died from a self-caused gunshot wound, stressing that the cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner.
Lee was known for his charity. In 1996 he had donated $22 million to Harvard University, where he had studied. Part of that amount was used for student financial assistance.
I was lucky to have made some money. I'm more than happy to have some of them back”- Lee said at the time.
Lee has left Ann Tennbaum and five children behind.
