In the list sent by the panel, opposition party deputies received criticism as to how the Governor's selection process has gone.
The chairman of the BEC Board, the Nurbonja Union, said that the open competition for the first BEC has chosen 4 candidates and that the selection process has been monitored and conducted on the basis of the British Embassy project. The process has been monitored by the British Embassy and applied 17 candidates, and 14 candidates have been invited to interview. The project has also been described as meeting the conditions. The ranking of candidates is set to take place on the basis of points that have received candidates. The candidates are Ahmet Ismaili, Nedzat Kryeziu, Lulzim Ismajli and Shkushije Himaj”, he said.
He said there have been complaints concerning a candidate in the process. Where two candidates had the same points and the 4th candidate was selected on the narrow list because of integrity. MP Duda Balje said the gender equality law has been violated in this selection.
“We've received the entire list of 5 candidates, you don't have the limit that it was 4 or 5. Based on gender equality law, you are forced. I think you violated the law on gender equality. I didn't support this report. We MPs have to decide who's best, you've violated the law,” she said. Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Mergim Lushtaku also criticised the election of candidates on the list.
According to him, there is also a lack of gender equality law. “We have received an email complaint from the candidate. For the procedure you have chosen and methodology and I am critical in this regard. Other than the CEC Law, there are other laws to follow. We see that we have different estimates, that you are called to gender equality, that doesn't drink water, you should have brought in three or four candidates. This is where two men should enter the race and two women should enter the race. If this list doesn't return to re-evaluation, my vote will be against and I will be unable to vote”, he said.
Bashkino said that according to the Law, those elected must be integrity keepers. MP Balje countered that the Board has violated the Constitution.
“The constitution is higher than the law, you can philosopher”, it reacted. Governor Election Panel member Nora Latifi - Yashar said that there are few women in leadership positions, it's good to make sense.
“The law does not specify how many members should have come to the Assembly. The panel has voted for four names. So in representing women in positions of leaders, it's very low, and for us it's also important to us this”, Jashar said. Democratic League of Kosovo MP Avdullah Hoti said this competition has not been prosecuted under the laws.
I believe this competition has not been conducted by law. Then there is this fifth candidate, and the gender equality law has been violated. I don't think it should go any further. This competition has not been prosecuted under law”, he said.
