As Russia's war in Ukraine entered the second year, Chief of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the United States, William Burns, has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has “excessive trust” for his army's ability to defeat Ukraine.
In a television interview, Burns has said that the leader of Russian intelligence services has featured in several meetings held in November “a sense of presumptuousness” that later reflected in Putin's beliefs that “ai can defeat Ukrainians and beat up our European allies, and that there will eventually be political fatigue”.
Burns has said that the talks held that month with Russian officials in which the CIA chief has warned of consequences if Russia uses nuclear weapons in Ukraine have been very “-decouraging”.
The CIA chief has regarded Putin as the “x1> set up to continue the war, despite the number of casualties, tactics and economic damage to Russia.
I think Putin now has excessive confidence in his ability to crush Ukraine”, Burns said in an interview on the American network, CBS.
