As if the morning quakes were not enough, during the afternoon last night a strong earthquake rocked Turkey's southeast area, bringing more damage.

So far, more than 4,300 casualties in the two countries are reported, but this number is expected to increase further.

According to the director of Akdeniz University's Earthquake Research Centre, Prof.D. Ramadan Ozcelik, most of the destroyed buildings are built before 1998.

Most of the buildings destroyed today are built before 1998. The amount of concrete and iron in these structures is insufficient”, he explained. /abcnews. al
