Russia will likely use spy balloons to collect information about Ukraine's defence systems and ammunition reserves, according to British Intelligence.
In the latest intelligence update, the Defence Ministry said that, on February 12th, the Ukraine Air Force reported they had seen a number of balloons near the eastern town of Dnipros.
Ukrainian Armed Forces also said that on February 15th they saw and knocked down some balloons over Kyiv, while showing that balloons had reflected radar and equipment helping radar systems discover small objects below them.
The balloons were probably Russian,” said the United Kingdom update. “They will likely represent a new tactic from Russia to obtain information about Ukraine's air defence systems and to force Ukrainians to spend valuable reserves of missiles and surface ammunition in the air”.
