The new 25-million-euro aid will finance additional emergency assistance, such as tents and blankets for the remaining homeless families under freezing conditions”, an official statement said.
The package will support the work of the UN and field aid agencies in Syria, as well as recovery efforts in Turkey led by the government.
There will be a particular focus on the protection of women and girls, including assistance for the birth of children and midwifes and the reduction of the risk of gender-based violence for communities that have shifted, the statement said.
“The Party of the United Kingdom is to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches people who need the most, and that's why I'm pleased to announce this additional fund today, which will be so vital to ensure that those affected start rebuilding their lives,” Minister of Development Andrew Mitchell.
