Blinken: Kosovo, Serbian leaders to make difficult compromises

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in a trip to Serbia for State Day, has said that Kosovo and Serbia leaders should make difficult compromises in reaching an agreement, but adds that the benefits for citizens of both countries will be great. He has also welcomed “constructive implementation” [...]
He has also welcomed Serbia's “constructive implementation” in recent talks with the five top diplomats who remained in Belgrade for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
“I welcomed Serbia's constructive engagement with US, EU, France, Germany and Italy officials during a recent visit to Belgrade. I am convinced that normalising relations between Serbia and Kosovo will bring security and prosperity to Serbia and all citizens of the Western Balkans. Of course, Serbian and Kosovo leaders will make difficult compromises to achieve these goals, but the rewards for the Serbian people -- and the entire region -- will be large”, Blinken stressed in this letter.
He said the United States is a strong supporter of Serbia's <x0mambics for the EU”.
“We are committed to working with you and our EU partners towards this important target”.
Blinken has also cited the support Serbia must have for Ukraine.
“I also urge Serbia to support Ukraine against the unprotested, unjustified and brutal fight of Russia. The United States welcomed Serbia's messages for Ukraine's support in the United Nations, and we must be united in supporting the right of the Ukrainian people to choose their future”.
I am pleased that our two countries recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create liaison positions for Serbian diplomats within the US State Department. This unique programme will not only promote a better understanding of our respective foreign policy goals and objectives, but will create new communication channels and build sustainable partnerships”.
