Earlier Friday, the Pentagon announced that it is investigating this balloon, but has decided not to bring it down for security reasons. Defence officials have said the balloon has been watched for days since it entered US airspace.
Meanwhile, Chinese authorities have said that balloon is a device for meteorological purposes and that “is sorry” for the unintentional intervention in American airspace.
