His trip is a surprise to many, as the president would visit Poland and last week of the White House that he had no intention of crossing the border with American friends.
Mr. Beden is one of the last Western leaders to go to Kiev to start seeing Voldymyr Zelensky, with Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz who previously traveled to the country.
There have been speculation throughout the morning of a senior Western official to be visiting the capital.
