Authorities confirmed that at least 100 people and another 217 were left injured dead following Monday's blast. Police suspect that 12kg of explosives were deployed by a suicide bomber, said Peshar Police General Inspector.
Monday's blast is the last sign of the deterioration of the security situation in Peshahar, capital of the province of Khyber-Pahktunfha, which borders Afghanistan and the site of frequent attacks by Pakistani Taliban, known as Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP).
TTP is a foreign terrorist organisation designated by the US operating in both Afghanistan and Pakistan. Last year, ending the ceasefire between TTP and the Pakistani government threatened not only the escalation of violence in the country, but also increased cross-border tensions between Afghan and Pakistani governments. /Abc news
