Armed attack near a U.S. school, 6 children injured

Seven persons, six of them children and one woman, mother of a child, have been injured on a street northeast of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Victims were shot by fire last afternoon, at around 6 a.m., a schoolyard according to reports by foreign media, six [are] transported.

According to reports by foreign media, six people were transported to local hospitals, five children aged 2 -- 13, 15 17 and two 16-year-olds -- and a 31-year-old woman who was shot twice and is in stable condition.
The 2-year-old girl was shot in the left thigh, police said. A 13-year-old boy was shot in the hand. The 15-year-old was shot with two bullets in his chest. One of the 16-year-olds has been shot in the arm, while the other was shot on the right and one on the right thigh. A 17-year-old has suffered a thigh wound.
“As a parent, I understand the fear of people”, the Philadelphia police chief said, without specifying who opened fire and why.
In the United States, it has become a major problem to spread firearms and the ease with which Americans can access them.
The country has more weapons than residents, one in three adults owns at least one gun, and one in two lives in a family with at least one gun.
Compared with other developed countries, the highest number of deaths in the U.S. is due to arms attacks of between 40,000 and 50,000 deaths a year.
