The director of the Centre for Peace and Freedom at the Independent Institute of Washington, Ivan Eland, has declared that the US President Joseph Biden's administration will use the policy of “carote and stick” for Serbia to recognise Kosovo's independence, Euronews Serbia reports.
Asked by the Serbian newspaper “Politika” if the Benden administration could formulate a solution that would satisfy both Belgrade and Pristina, Eland has declared that the Benden administration is much more traditional in its support for NATO, rather than former President Donald Trump's administration, and as a result, it is unlikely that Beden would dim the Alliance's victory results in the fight against Serbia in 1999, Paparaci broadcasts.
Beden's “Administration will use policy “carota and stick” to force Serbia to recognise Kosovo's independence. In other words, for both sides to respect state borders and symbols and for Serbia to stop lobbiing that Kosovo will remain outside international organisations, but that will formally not recognise Kosovo as a state”, Eland has said.
He has claimed that Kosovo has already agreed to forming the Association of Serb majority municipalities, without state competencies, but only after Belgrade recognises Kosovo's independence.
