LDK Chairman Lumir Abdixhiku has written an opinion on European prestige “Eractiv” for the performance of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. The head of the Democratic League has stressed the need for support received by friends and allies in pursuit of integration into the Euro-Atlantic community.
Abdixhiku has written about the history of success that has conveyed Kosovo thanks to strong diplomatic, economic and military support of our Western allies, as well as the need for full NATO membership to avoid Russian and Chinese influence.
“While I welcome the efforts of our Western allies, the US and the EU, to make Kosovo and Serbia improve relations, the Republic of Kosovo needs all the support it can receive from friends and allies in pursuit of integration into the Euro-Atlantic community. Independent Kosovo was born 15 years ago. Our people have won their deserved nationality after a long fight for freedom, independence and democracy. This achievement would never be possible without strong diplomatic, economic, and military support from our Western allies. ” The LDK chairman writes.
On the other hand, he has written concerns in Kosovo that the long and extended process of dialogue with Serbia “risks perpetuate strained relations in the region. ”
The first of the second largest opposition party has underlined the need for normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia based on the fundamental principles of mutual recognition of the two countries.
“As the EU facilitates Kosovo- Serbia for a dozen years now, in Kosovo, has concerns that this long and extended process risks perpetuated strained relations in the region. To prevent this, normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia must be based on the fundamental principles of mutual recognition of the two countries, fully respecting each other's territorial integrity. ” Obadiah said.
The first of the LDK has also written about the lack of continued security and Euro-Atlantic perspective as factors that are affecting living conditions, economic development, education, etc.
He talked further about the need for a move forward with Western allies in order to secure Kosovo's future.
In the noise and drama of diplomacy, politicians can lose sight of people's views and everyday experiences. The lack of continued security and Euro-Atlantic prospects exacerbate daily problems the new Kosovo population -- half of which are under the age of 25 -- experiences every day. The cost of living, economic development, health and education are just some of these problems. Our young people embrace the West, but they also have to face daily issues affecting their life and outlook on the world. ” writes Obadiah.
Over the next few months, efforts to normalise relations between Kosovo and Serbia will reach a critical point. In pursuit of a successful conclusion of dialogue, the US and the EU must support Kosovo's irreversible dock in the West and avoid mountain interventions by Russia and China. This can be done only through a full membership in NATO. To that end, the formal recognition of Kosovo by all NATO and EU members is a necessary precondition. Only by strengthening Kosovo's security, The US and the EU will meet their regional strategic priorities, help our new nation flourish and ensure European stability. Kosovo's future is at stake. We must move forward with our Western allies to ensure and protect it. ” It's over, Obadiah.
