Joe Biden and Volodyyr Zelensky have discussed long-range weapons and a new military aid package, the Ukrainian president has announced.
The American president arrived this morning on an unexpected visit to Kiev.
Speaking after the two-way talks, Zelensky said military support would be $500m (415.7m), and more details would be announced on Tuesday, writes Sky News, Pryscope follows.
The White House added that the package would include HIMARS ammunition, anti-armament systems and air surveillance radar.
Additional sanctions will also be imposed on Russia and companies that are trying to “mangin or fill the Russian war machine”.
“Over the past year, the United States has built a coalition of nations from Atlantic to Pacific to help protect Ukraine with unprecedented military, economic and humanitarian support ♫ and this support will last”, a statement by Biden said. /Periscope.
