As Turkey tries to manage its worst modern disaster, sorrows are on the rise for victims of tragedy in Syria, with the World Food Programme (WFP) pressuring authorities in the northwest to stop blocking access to the area as it seeks to help hundreds of thousands of people destroyed by earthquakes, the Klankosova broadcast.tv.
Twelve days after the sting, workers from Kyrgyzstan tried to rescue a five-member Syrian family from the ruins of a building in the town of Antayya in Turkey.
Three people, including a child, were released alive. Mother and father survived, but the child later died of dehydration, the rescue team said. The older sister and a twin did not succeed.
According to Reuters, the death toll in Turkey has gone to 40,642, while in Syria it is reported to be more than 5800 victims -- a figure that hasn't moved for days now.
