Syria's humanitarian needs are greater than Turkey's capacities to respond to the crisis, Addelheid Marschang from the WTO said.
The World Health Organisation said it is sending emergency supplies, as regions close to Syria's border are affected by the effects of the earthquake, civil war and the outbreak of a cholera.
“This is a crisis at the top of many crises that have affected the” region, Marschang said.
At least 4,940 deaths have been confirmed so far in Turkey and Syria following a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake that rocked the region on Monday, CNN reports.
The death toll in Turkey rose to at least 3,381 as early as 9:45 local time Tuesday, Orhan Tartar, an official of the country's disaster management agency, broadcast Periscopi, said at a TV conference.
At least 20,426 injured persons were also reported, according to Tatar. /Periscopi/
