February 20th of 2008 marks an important date in Kosovo-German relations.
Just three days later, the German State recognized our country.
And right now, after a decade and a half of recognition of independence, Germany has remembered this moment.
Her embassy in Kosovo has also distributed the letter with which recognition has been made.
She had been handed over to Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu, by then chief Carl-Albrecht Wokalek.
Kosovo and Germany alike mark the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
“15 years ago, then chief of the Liaison Office in Pristina, Karl-Albrecht Wokaklek handed the official letter in which Germany recognised Kosovo's independence and diplomatic relations between the two states --” -- reportedly in the embassy's writing.
The embassy says Germany is thankful for reports it has built with Kosovo and Kosovars.
While celebrating the 15th anniversary of our diplomatic reports between Kosovo and Germany, we are grateful for the close partnership in many areas and true friendship based on common values and close ties between our peoples”, the embassy writes.
