This announcement comes as recent survivors are likely brought out alive from the ruins of collapsed buildings.

A 13-year-old boy is the last person to be taken alive from the ruins after 182 hours in Hatay province.

Meanwhile, 176,000 tents have been set up in areas affected by earthquakes. The disaster agency in Turkey said thousands more are living in containers, and nearly 400,000 people have been evacuated from earthquake-affected areas.

Early Monday, some people have been rescued from their own ruins.

As hopes of finding other survivors waned, the total number of victims from earthquakes in Turkey and Syria on Monday reached over 35,000, international media reported. Meanwhile, Turkish state news agency Anadolu, citing the disaster agency, said the number has reached 37,500.

The rescue phase “is towards the end of” and is now expected to focus on providing housing and food for survivors, said UN head of aid Martin Griffiths, during the visit to Alepo, Syria on 13 February.

Those statements came at a time when teams in Turkey managed to bring some people out of the ruins alive. Officials said a young girl named Miray was saved in Adijaman after 178 hours in ruins. A 35 - year - old woman was saved in the same town.

A woman named Naide Umay was taken out alive from the ruins of buildings in Antakya, and two children were saved at the same location. Meanwhile, in the province of Gaziantep, rescuers brought a woman out of the ruins alive.

Earlier it was known that the rescue teams from Tajikistan have taken alive a 3-year-old boy from the ruins in the Turkish town of Kahramanmarash.

He had spent 158 hours there, the press service of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection of Tajikistan announced on February 13th.

Tajikistan sent a group of 50 rescuers and doctors, as well as 2.5 tonnes of special equipment to Turkey, to help the country cope with the effects of the February 6th earthquake.

The United Nations, the day before, condemned failure to help Syria's regions as they warned that the number of earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria, which has reached over 37,000, could double.

Authorities confirmed Monday that more than 37,000 casualties have been confirmed in Syria and Turkey. The largest number of victims is in Turkey, 31.643, and 5.714 are registered in Syria respectively.

Tens of thousands of rescue workers are continuing to find survivors, despite the low temperatures that weigh the plight of millions who now need help.

The UN has warned that at least 880,000 people are in urgent need of warm bars throughout Turkey and Syria. In Syria alone, up to 5.3 million people can remain homeless.

The 7.8-strong quake followed by several other powerful earthquakes in Turkey and Syria is the seventh deadliest disaster of this century.

An earthquake of similar magnitudes in Turkey in 1999 had killed over 17,000 people.
