Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu at a media conference said the Venice Commission did not support the provisional increase in the number of members of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council.
She said that this commission of metations remains with the idea that the number of KKP members will drop to seven.
The Venice Commission does not support the provisional increase in the number of members of Kosovo's Prosecutorial Council, for some reason, the difficulties that the Assembly may have to do so many members of Kosovo's Prosecutorial Council, as well as our constitutional possibilities, the fact that all these members are merely elected in the Parliament, as before our constitution”.
The Venice Commission does not recommend the expansion of members of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, but remains with the idea that the number of members be reduced to seven”, it said.
Haxhiu said it is important that the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council be an independent constitutional institution, Klankosova reports.tv.
It is important that the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council is an independent constitutional institution, have a debate and democratic discussion within the members of the prosecutor and non-professional members, because as you know at the moment, we have very big problems with the Kosovo Procusorial Council. Only the recent decisions of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council have proved to us that reform in this institution is extremely necessary”, Haxhiu said.
On the other hand, Minister Haxhiu also spoke of the opposition, saying he is constantly hindering reforms in justice.
“Vanecia does not insist on abandoning the idea of increasing the number of members of the Procusoral Council, but also predicts risks and does not support the version of the permanent composition of seven members. In view of that, I consider it important to discuss both the legislation commission and the majority deputies and the opposition deputes. This form can only be passed under the circumstances when we have an unification to seize it in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo”.
“Because you know that the ongoing opposition is hindering reforms in justice even despite the fact that many times I've stressed that we may have multiple differences in various issues, the daily, ideological, conceptual policies, etc, but for reform in justice, since it is important for citizens of the Republic, it would have to be united”, Haxhi said further.
