TikTok regulates privacy policies, age of consent under Kosovo Law

With the initiative of the Commissioner for Information and Privateness, Crenare Sogojeeva-Dermaku and after meeting with representatives of the TikTok platform, the Agency for Information and Privateness for the goal of providing fair information to users from Kosovo, has asked the TikTok platform to publish privacy policies in Albanian, determine the age of consent and parental consent for users of 13-16 years, and to appoint a legal representative for Kosovo.
According to one communique, TikTok has recently announced the Agency that Private Policy has made it public in Albanian, as provided with the Law's provisions for the Protection of Personal Data.
“also, TikTok has changed the minimum age allowed from 13 to 16, in line with the Commission's request and current legislation in force. The Information and Private Agency will continue its efforts to ensure a high level of personal data protection for TikTok app users in Kosovo. The move comes in the context of raising awareness and the need to protect personal data integrity in digital environments. The Information and Private Agency advises parents/legal guardians to monitor the use of apps from their children, as well as to talk to children about proper online behavior”, the Agency for Information and Privates communiqué says.
