What steps must be taken to survive the petition for the departure of mayors in the north shows Elbert Krasniqi

Krasniqi has said that from media reports, they have realised that citizens from the northern Mitrovica municipalities -- Zubin Potok, Leposaviqi and Zvecan -- have prepared the request for the initiative of procedures for the removal of mayors from which they come.

“Sic is informed during yesterday in the Northern Mitrovica municipality, demand on the part of citizens has not been officially addressed to the Head of the Municipal Assembly. While in the municipalities Zubin Potok, Leposavic and Zvecan, except for reports by the media there has been no official request to the respective municipal assembly”, he wrote.

All practical measures are being taken on this issue for our citizens to exercise their rights stemming from the Law on Local Elections and Administration Guides. Since this is an initiative that requires some practical knowledge, we find a chance to sort out once again some major issues regarding this process”, Krasniqi has continued

Then he has listed the steps that must be taken to life the petition for the departure of the mayors to the north:

• The administrative direction clearly defines the initiative procedures, organisation and handover of the citizens' initiative to remove the mayor from office.

• Initiation of the request is launched by at least three citizens with the right to vote in that municipality.

• Interested citizens must establish an initiative group.

• The initiative group formally announces the mayor of the municipal assembly. Within five days they must be answered.

• After accepting the request, the Communist Assembly Chief announces the chairman of the relevant municipality, MAPL and CEC.

• While institutions officially communicate among themselves to create conditions that enable citizens to adopt this initiative.

• So, after accepting the Chairman's request and announcement, MAPL and CEC follow procedures and deadlines set with administrative instruction.

• Citizens' request for the mayor's departure from the post must be signed by at least 20% of voters.

At this point, however, there is no accepted request from the mayors of the municipal assembly and therefore no notice by the leaders for the event. MAPL.
