Spanish Ambassador to Belgrade Raul Bartholomew Molina told reporters today that his country will not change its position when it comes to Kosovo's independence, stressing that his country also opposes its application to the European Union, as well as any other international organisation.
Molina told reporters, on the eve of the European Policy Centre's meeting for the EU chairmanship “from Spain to Belgium”, that his country had not taken any action in the past six months as chairman of the EU Council Presidency in connection with Kosovo's application.
“We are awaiting legal opinion, which has not come and will be forwarded to Belgium, as the next chairman of”, the ambassador said, Serbian news agency “FoNet”
Kosovo's application has been terminated, a legal opinion is expected, as I said, but of course Spain is not pro, nor for any application of Kosovo to be part of any international organisation”, Molina said, adding that by law and narrative in his country, for them, “Kosovo is not a country, but territory”.
This will not change”, the Spanish ambassador to Serbia said firmly.
Molina has not been able to say which terms will be used in the EU Council conclusions when it comes to the Ohrid Agreement and chapter 35 in the negotiations with Serbia, but is convinced there will be references to it.
“According to that agreement itself, they must be the essence of chapter 35, but I don't know what terms to use”, Molina added.
Spain is one of five EU member states that do not recognise Kosovo's independence. /Klankosova. tv
