Lawyer Bozo Prelevic said authorities in Belgrade led by Aleksandar Vuciq should not arrest Milan Radocicin because they know he has not organised the conflict in Banjska on 24 September.
Commenting on the issuance of Interpol's arrest warrant against former Serbian List Vice President and Vucinqi's closest associate on the Kosovo issue, Prelevic told Beta agency that Radojic could be an inappropriate witness to the current government.
According to him, it would be a problem for Serbia not to act on Interpol's orders at the moment “when it is known who is protecting Radojici in Serbia”.
“Milan Radocic is protected and guarded by Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq. Authorities slowly and harmfully tried to shield the country from events in Banjska by launching the procedure against Radojici and releasing it immediately. The question is who is responsible for the tragic events in Banjska, because Radoic was certainly unable to buy a large quantity of weapons, military equipment, even a combat vehicle. Radoichiki had not thought that for his sake he would organise a rebellion in northern Kosovo”, Prelevic said.
He has stressed that Radoicicic is not Interpol's main target.
The “Authorities in Serbia also know that Radoiciq is not Interpol's main target, but it could show the right target”. Therefore, no investigation into Banjska is under way in Belgrade. If the prosecution did its job, it would end the huge damage to Serbian interests in Banjska. Banjska is the turning point behind which there is no longer resistance in northern Kosovo”, Prelevic praised.
Prelevic added that Interpol's arrest warrant also has a political co-operation.
Under Serbia's Constitution and Resolution 1244, it is difficult to understand Serbia's co-operation through Interpol with its territory, Kosovo, because it can support the exclusive recognition of Kosovo's independence. On the other hand, all MPs from the Serbian List pledged in Kosovo's parliament that they would respect the Constitution and the laws of Kosovo, so before Interpol Serbia's territorial integrity had been drastically violated by representatives of the Serbian List. From a political point of view, the move under Interpol's request would be the state's acceptance that its Constitution is not valid in this case”, the lawyer said.
Prelevic believes that authorities in Belgrade will neither arrest him nor hand Radociqi to Kosovo authorities, and that Serbia will face serious consequences for this.
“cannot be talked about a country with a rule of law in case it fails to comply with Interpol commands”. It is not just the arrest and possible extradition of Radojici, but the procedure against him does not take place in Belgrade. Such an attitude of current power sends message that it is possible to create an armed group in Serbia, due to which many people will die and be injured and that it means nothing to the government. The prosecutor's failure to act in the Banjsko case indicates that it was not the idea of Radojchik”, Prelevic concluded.
